Brian and I were friends for about 50 years from the time he was Chairman of Sunbury Weightlifting club and I acted as secretary. Judy and I had great times with Brian and Jayne, and later enjoyed a memorable holiday visiting Sara, when on the return trip Brian got arrested at Perpignan airport for carrying an illegal weapon - a pistol he was taking back to Dick after repair in Spain. Fortunately the French police saw the funny side after discussion with Dick and let Brian go some time later, but I did then have to go to Stanstead to collect him from a later flight! Stephen and I will miss our political discussions with Brian though Stephen was outnumbered by us two pinkos. He will stay in my thoughts.
