Celebrating the life of BRIAN HAMILL, who was born in Cairo on May 13, 1937 and passed away on December 24th, 2020.
However you came to know Brian, we would be very happy for you to share your memories in whatever form with others who enjoyed being part of his time amongst us so please add your thoughts, photos, videos etc.
I have heard so many wonderful stories from you all recently and hope that through this site we can all share our memories and feelings.
As you all know, at the moment it's not possible to get together so we hope to offer a small substitute for shared tears, laughs and hugs in the future.

Thoughts
I met Brian in 2012. At the time I was doing a masters degree in Strength & Conditioning and just started weightlifting. Brian went out of his way to support my development as a coach, providing opportunities for me to be a funded coach at the club, as well as involving me in relevant training courses. His dedication to coaching and helping others was admirable. He was always welcoming to new members and had a great sense of humour. I’ll always have fond memories of Brian, even though I only knew him for a short time.

Brian was a lovely man who I met through weightlifting. The effort he put into his club, and the lifters, was above and beyond. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Some years ago I was looking for and exercise regime, and for some reason I alighted on weightlifting. On turning up, I found that I was the only woman in the class. However, Brian made me feel very welcome, as did many of the other participants. My husband and I had dinner with him several times at his home, and although I eventually gave weightlifting up (knee problems), we kept in touch and I sometimes helped out at competitions. My daughter also took up weightlifting and eventually became the Irish National Weightlifting Champion (my husband is Irish). A lovely man. We shall miss him.
